James F. Morrison

James F. Morrison

James Francis Morrison passed away on April 19, 2026, after a brief illness. He was born March 13, 1934, in Statesboro, Georgia the son of James Clarence Morrison and Sibyl Wilson Morrison. After growing up in Hinesville, Georgia he attended North Georgia College where he earned a degree in Business Administration and received a commission in the United States Army. He then served in the 24th Infantry Division in Korea. Following his military service, he was a career civil servant at Fort Stewart and Hunter Army Airfield for forty-one years. A longtime member of Windsor Forest Baptist Church he also enjoyed boating, genealogy, line dancing and travel. An annual highlight was gathering the family for the Savannah Scottish Games where he and his wife Dot represented the Clan Morrison Society for over 20 years.

He was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy Brown Morrison and his parents.

He is survived by three daughters Jennifer M. Scott (Frank), Johanna M. Everson (Keith), and Alane M. Claxton (Duane); five grandchildren Amanda L. Heldreth (Daniel), Amy L. Marona (Brenton), James R. Everson, David D. Claxton Jr. and Jenna A. Everson; four great grandchildren Hudson J. Marona, Paxton L. Marona, Miller J. Heldreth and Mason H. Heldreth.

The family will receive family and friends from Thursday, April 23, 2026, from 5 pm to 7 pm at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors on Hodgson Memorial Drive.

The funeral service will be held graveside at 1 pm on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at Coleman Cemetery in Twin City, Georgia.

The family suggests any remembrances be made in his memory to Windsor Forest Baptist Church.
